Nestled
on the edge of the Waterberg Mountains alongside the Marakele National Park
and stretching into the vast bushveld of the Northern Limpopo Province, The
Duikerspan Private Reserve is where your Safari begins.
This
area’s breathtaking beauty is home to the sought after “Big Five”.
Lion and Hyena can be heard at nearly every setting of the sun. Elephant,
Buffalo, Rhino and Leopard roam a vast natural landscape and give credence
to where you are. The shear cliffs and proximity of the National Waterberg
Mountains as they disappear onto vast plains on their way to Botswana will
remind you constantly that you are in Africa.
Africa
Active Safaris offers its clients exclusive hunting opportunities with its
four private reserves on the edge of the Marakele National Park totaling 25
000 hectares and the beautiful hunting lodge on Duikerspan. The fly camp on
Mamba concession is available for the discerning, adventurous hunter who is
fit enough to hunt the steep Waterberg Mountains and experience a few wild
nights in the untouched wilderness where leopard are often heard and seen
from the camps vantage point.
From
our two camps at Duikerspan and Mamba, you will experience high standards of
comfort, equipment and hunting trophies along with experienced trackers and
professional hunters. Our trained camp staff offer exceptional service,
hospitality and professionalism which will assure you of an unforgettable
stay.
We have hunting rights to all our areas, which in turn are regarded as some of South Africa’s finest trophy hunting concessions. Hunters will enjoy the fair chase and ethical hunting experience. It is very important that we are informed at the time of booking what your priority species are and what your primary objectives of your safari are. This will allow us to allocate the best area to you and to ensure that the required animals are reserved for you from our set quota.
Certain species are restricted to a minimum safari duration – those days have to be booked and paid for, irrespective of whether the animal is bagged or not. Lion and leopard require ten days, buffalo, rhino and elephant fourteen days.
The minimum booking for plains game is seven days. For safaris ten days or less, only one area will be hunted, while safaris longer than 10 days will allow two areas to be hunted. Our concessions run almost the whole of northern Zululand to our Midlands and berg areas Winterton, Ladysmith and the Central berg. Further to this we also have a concession in the upper part of Mozambique, we are only one of two outfitters that hunt the big five in Northern Zululand with qualified licensed big five professional hunters. We do have further access to other areas with sister companies where we hunt areas like Zimbabwe, Congo, Tanzania and Nyasaland, however these areas require at least one year advanced bookings. All will be expected to sign an indemnity form before the commencement of the safari witch is a legal requirement
